ZIP code radius finder: this free tool lists every Texas ZIP code within a set distance of any Texas ZIP code, from a few blocks to 300 miles. Enter a ZIP code above, choose a radius, and you’ll get a map, a list sorted by distance, and a CSV file you can open in Excel or Google Sheets. It covers all 2,599 active Texas ZIP codes, and everything runs right in your browser.
How to find ZIP codes within a radius
- Enter a center ZIP code. Type any 5-digit Texas ZIP code, such as 77002 for downtown Houston. On a phone, you can tap Use my location as the center instead.
- Choose a radius. Pick 5, 10, 25, 50, or 100 miles, or type your own distance up to 300 miles in the Other box.
- Press Find ZIP codes. The results appear on a map, with a circle showing your radius, and in a table sorted from nearest to farthest.
- Download or copy the list. Download CSV saves the full list with city, county, ZIP type, and distance. Copy ZIP codes copies a comma-separated list you can paste anywhere.
By default, the tool shows only street-address ZIP codes, which is what most people need for service areas and deliveries. Untick the checkbox to include PO Box and unique ZIP codes, which is useful for mailing lists.
How many ZIP codes are near Texas cities?
The number of ZIP codes inside a radius varies enormously across Texas. Dense metro areas pack dozens of ZIP codes into a few miles, while parts of West Texas have very few. This table shows how many street-address ZIP codes fall within each distance of a city’s downtown ZIP code:
| Center (downtown ZIP) | 5 miles | 10 miles | 25 miles | 50 miles |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dallas (75201) | 23 | 47 | 145 | 253 |
| Houston (77002) | 20 | 52 | 143 | 211 |
| Arlington (76010) | 9 | 29 | 146 | 256 |
| Plano (75074) | 7 | 26 | 112 | 249 |
| Fort Worth (76102) | 12 | 32 | 91 | 245 |
| San Antonio (78205) | 22 | 42 | 86 | 128 |
| Austin (78701) | 15 | 33 | 65 | 114 |
| Waco (76701) | 8 | 12 | 31 | 87 |
| Tyler (75702) | 2 | 8 | 26 | 73 |
| Lubbock (79401) | 14 | 16 | 27 | 46 |
| Beaumont (77701) | 6 | 10 | 24 | 42 |
| Corpus Christi (78401) | 9 | 16 | 27 | 41 |
| McAllen (78501) | 4 | 10 | 21 | 38 |
| Amarillo (79101) | 8 | 13 | 16 | 35 |
| El Paso (79901) | 6 | 17 | 28 | 30 |
| Brownsville (78520) | 3 | 4 | 10 | 28 |

| Laredo (78040) | 1 | 3 | 5 | 9 |
Street-address ZIP codes only, measured in a straight line from the center of each downtown ZIP code, including the center ZIP itself.
What the numbers reveal about Texas
Dallas–Fort Worth is the densest region at 50 miles. Arlington, Dallas, Plano, and Fort Worth each have more than 240 street-address ZIP codes within 50 miles, because a 50-mile circle anywhere in the Metroplex covers both Dallas and Fort Worth, which sit about 30 miles apart.
Houston is the densest at close range. The single most crowded spot in the state is around ZIP code 77027 in Houston’s Upper Kirby and River Oaks area, which has 58 street-address ZIP codes within 10 miles, more than any other Texas ZIP code.
Border and West Texas cities are spread out. Laredo has only 3 street-address ZIP codes within 10 miles of downtown, and just 9 within 50 miles, because the city sits on the Rio Grande with Mexico on the other side, and the surrounding ranch land is sparsely populated. El Paso’s count barely grows between 25 and 50 miles for a similar reason: much of that circle falls in New Mexico or Mexico, which this Texas tool doesn’t include.
Some Texas ZIP codes are very isolated. Salt Flat (79847) in Hudspeth County is about 71 miles from the nearest other street-address ZIP code, and Dryden (78851) in Terrell County is about 60 miles from its nearest neighbor. A 25-mile radius around places like these returns only the center ZIP code itself.
Real examples
- A home-services company in Spring Branch (77055) that covers 15 miles would serve 93 street-address ZIP codes across 8 cities and towns.
- The same 15 miles from Katy (77494) covers only 20 street-address ZIP codes, but across 9 different cities and towns, because suburban ZIP codes are larger.
- A 20-mile delivery zone from downtown Austin (78701) includes 58 street-address ZIP codes in 11 cities and towns.
- The same 20 miles from downtown Dallas (75201) reaches 113 street-address ZIP codes in 28 cities, nearly twice as many as Austin.
The lesson: the same radius means very different things in different parts of Texas. Always check the count before committing to a service area or ad budget.
Choosing the right radius
| Radius | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 5 miles | Neighborhood businesses, local events, walk-in customers |
| 10 miles | City-wide services, restaurant delivery, local advertising |
| 25 miles | Metro-area service businesses, contractors, commuting range |
| 50 miles | Regional sales territories, recruiting, multi-city coverage |
| 100+ miles | Statewide planning, distribution centers, regional analysis |
How the radius is measured
Every ZIP code in our data has a center point with a latitude and longitude. When you search, the tool measures the straight-line distance from your center point to every other Texas ZIP code’s center, using the great-circle (haversine) formula, which accounts for the curve of the Earth. Any ZIP code whose center falls inside your radius is included.
Two things follow from this. First, a ZIP code is an area, not a dot, so a ZIP code whose center is 11 miles away may still include streets less than 10 miles away. If an exact boundary matters, check addresses near the edge of your circle. Second, this is straight-line distance, so driving distances are longer. If you need a strict driving limit, choose a radius a little smaller than that limit.
Who uses a ZIP code radius search?
- Local service businesses such as plumbers, electricians, cleaners, and landscapers use it to define and publish the area they serve.
- Delivery and logistics teams use it to set delivery zones and decide which orders a location can handle.
- Marketers use radius lists for direct mail and for ad campaigns, since many ad platforms let you target by ZIP code.
- Franchises and retailers use it to check how much a new location would overlap with existing ones.
- Recruiters and employers use it to find candidates within commuting distance.
- Home buyers and renters use it to see which areas are within reach of work, school, or family.
Tips for better results
- Use a downtown or central ZIP code as the center for city-wide searches.
- Start smaller in big metros. A 25-mile radius around Dallas, Houston, or Arlington already returns more than 140 street-address ZIP codes.
- Include PO Box ZIP codes only for mailing lists. PO Box ZIP codes don’t cover street addresses, so they’re not useful for service areas.
- Save the CSV if you’ll reuse the list, so you don’t have to search again.
